Seat Cover/Toilet Tissue Dispensers
Back wall to edge of partition cutout should be 20 1/2" (521mm) to locate toilet tissue within 12" (305mm) off the front of a standard projecting 30" (762mm) toilet. Handicapped units have toilet tissue on left side. Mount partition units with one side flush to partition for ADA compartments with grab bars. Units with grab bar mount from floor to top of unit 45 3/4" (1162mm). Partition unit mounts through partitions 1/2" (13mm) to 1 1/4" (32mm) thick, serving two (2) compartments. Angle Frame Mirrors and Tilt Frame Mirrors
Bottom edge of reflective surface should be mounted no higher than 40" (1016mm) above the finished floor. A single full length mirror is universally usable in all washrooms. At least one accessible shelf should be mounted no higher than 44" (1118mm) above the finished floor.
Soap Dispensers
Push buttons and pistons should be operable with one hand without tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. Activation of soap valves should not require more than 5 pounds of force (22.2N) when unit is completely filled. All surface mounted soap dispensers require 4" (102mm) minimum clearance above unit for filling.
Grab Bars
It is recommended that a 36" (914mm) min. horizontal grab bar be installed on the back wall over the toilet and a 42" (1067mm) min. horizontal grab bar be installed on the side wall or partition nearest the toilet. This can also be accomplished with a single horizontal two-wall grab bar. Diameter of grab bars should be 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" (32-38mm) depending on state and local codes, with 1 1/2" (38mm) clearance from the wall. Grab bars should not rotate in their fittings. The required mounting height is universally 33" to 36" (838-914mm) from the centerline of the grab bar to the finished floor. The structural strength of all grab bars and their mounting devices should withstand more than 250 pounds of force (1112N).
AAI Grab Bars were tested, while installed, simulating actual job conditions. Direct pressure was applied to each grab bar using a hydraulic testing machine in a manner that would apply the major stress approximately to the center of each bar. No failure was noted at 1300 lbs. pressure, which exceeds current regulations. The test was conducted by Universal Laboratories Testing Service located in Garland, Texas.
